candy cigarettes

she smokes candy cigarettes under a gum drop sun…

while cars filled with killers speed down endless highways

and missiles fly through the air with no discrimination between innocent and guilt

while lives are taken at the hands of madmen screaming death

driving their chariots spiked wheels clotted with the flesh of scurrying human chattel crying life while cursing existence

while the destitute flow from city to city on endless hope

and bullets take the lives and the blame for the insanity of a society

while the majority of wealth remains in the hands of the avarice few

and the rest of the human refuse take it day by miserable day more hopeful for death and the end of misery than the dawn…

she blows kisses to me across a field of yellow flowers that stretch up to marshmallow skies

I catch them with greedy hands and stuff them into empty pockets
